Electrician Service Areas in Delaware County, PA
Finding an electrician near you shouldn't mean scrolling through a dozen listings hoping one of them actually shows up.
Overview
A.V. Electric is based in Collingdale and handles electrical work, panel upgrades, rewiring, troubleshooting, and repairs, all across Delaware County. Whether you're in a century-old rowhome in Darby, a mid-century twin in Sharon Hill, or a newer build out past Media, we've likely already worked a job a few streets from you. Woody runs every job himself, so the electrician who quotes the work is the same one who shows up and does it. That matters more in a county like this one, where a home built in 1910 and a home built in 1995 can be a five-minute drive apart and need completely different electrical work.
We've built this business around knowing the county block by block instead of treating every address as a data point in a service radius. That means we already know which towns are full of older fuse boxes, which ones have aluminum wiring from a specific building boom, and which ones are newer construction where the panel is fine but the outlets or fixtures need attention. It saves you time on the phone and it saves you money on the job, because we're not guessing at what we'll find when we open the panel.
Where We Work
From the boroughs closest to home, Darby, Sharon Hill, Aldan, and Colwyn, out through Upper Darby, Lansdowne, and Springfield, and all the way to Media, Chester, and the townships along the county's western edge, we cover Delaware County end to end. If you're anywhere in Delco, we're not driving in from another county to reach you, and we're not treating your job as a detour on the way to somewhere else. Every town on the list below is a place we've either already worked or are set up to reach quickly.

About Delaware County
Delaware County is the third-smallest county in Pennsylvania by land area but the 5th most populous, with around 577,000 residents packed into 191 square miles. It's the only Pennsylvania county that borders both Delaware and New Jersey, and it sits right against Philadelphia's western edge, which means a lot of Delco's housing was built during the same waves of growth that built West Philly, just with its own local character borough by borough. That density is part of why we approach every job by neighborhood instead of by a one-size-fits-all checklist.
Media, the county seat, sits near the center of the county and is often called "Everybody's Hometown." To the east, along the Delaware River, you've got Marcus Hook, home to the lowest point in Pennsylvania, and Chester, where Subaru Park hosts the Philadelphia Union. The John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum, one of the only urban wildlife refuges in the country, sits right along I-95 near the airport. Delco is also home to Villanova, Swarthmore, Haverford, and Widener, and I-476, the Blue Route, runs the length of the county north to south, connecting most of the towns above.
The county's history stretches back to 1789, when it was carved out of Chester County, and a lot of its oldest boroughs, Darby especially, predate the country itself. That mix of colonial-era towns, mid-century suburbs, and newer development near the county's edges is exactly why electrical work here varies so much from one zip code to the next. A panel that's normal for Media might be decades out of date for a rowhome in Darby, and we plan every job with that in mind rather than showing up with a generic estimate.
What We Do in Every Area We Serve
Why Delco Homeowners Call A.V. Electric
Woody's worked electrical jobs across this county long enough to know that a rowhome in Darby and a twin in Sharon Hill need different things from the panel up. We show up, tell you what's actually wrong, and fix it, no upselling and no guesswork. Local, partnered with a licensed Electrical Contractor, and usually able to get to you the same day.
A lot of electrical companies working this area are dispatching whoever's available out of an office somewhere outside the county. That works fine until you need someone who actually understands why so many Delco homes still have fuse boxes, or why a 1960s twin in Sharon Hill wires differently than a 1920s rowhome in Darby. We built A.V. Electric around being the electrician who already knows the answer to that before we knock on the door.
Electrician Near Me
Finding an electrician near you shouldn't mean scrolling through a dozen listings hoping one of them actually shows up. A.V. Electric is based right in Collingdale, so when you search for an electrician near you anywhere in Delaware County, there's a real chance we're already a few minutes away. We're not a call center routing you to whoever's free. Anthony "Woody" Wood answers the phone, quotes the job, and does the work himself, so you're talking to the same person the whole way through.
Whether you need a panel upgrade, a full rewire, or just someone to figure out why a circuit keeps tripping, we handle it with the same care whether you're in a rowhome in Darby or a newer build out past Media. No upselling, no runaround, just a straight answer about what's wrong and what it costs to fix it. Reach out and we'll walk you through exactly what to expect before we ever pick up a tool.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you charge extra to travel between towns in Delaware County?
No. Our pricing is based on the job, not the zip code. Whether you're in Collingdale or out near Media, you get the same rate.
How fast can you get to my area?
Most calls in our closest towns, Darby, Sharon Hill, Aldan, and Colwyn, get same-day service. For towns further out toward the county's edges, we'll give you an honest window when you call rather than a vague estimate.
Do you work on older homes with outdated electrical systems?
This is most of what we do. Delaware County has a lot of housing stock from the early 1900s through the 1960s, and we regularly deal with knob-and-tube wiring, aluminum branch circuits, and fuse boxes that were never upgraded. We'll tell you honestly whether a repair is enough or whether it's time for a real upgrade.
Can I get a quote before you come out?
Call and describe what's going on, and we'll give you a straight answer about what it likely involves. A final price comes after we've actually seen the panel or the wiring in person, since guessing over the phone rarely helps anyone.
